invited speaker/keynote
Engaging presentations in the form of storytelling. Storytelling helps to humanize marginalized experiences and increase empathy and understanding. I offer my lived experiences as a queer transgender man of multiracial ancestry living in a rural Midwest town. My work as a clinician, my experiences as a community organizer, my life as a marginalized person, and my journey as a Ph.D. student are all touched upon in these presentations. The road has been anything but dull!
Through these experiences, I have gained an increased awareness of cultural humility concepts, the need for increased social justice, and a desperate need to reform our social services. The telling of my story can offer hope and inspiration as well as it can be a catalyst for change in your organization. I also offer a non-judgmental opportunity to ask questions and have a discussion you might not have access to anywhere else.
My goal is to increase your understanding of one person's trans experience, and how that might reflect some of the experiences your employees, students, or family and community members might have as well.
