Centered on Justice. Grounded in Experience.

My work is person-centered, strength-based, and rooted in a deep social justice framework. As a multiracial transgender man, I bring both lived and academic experience to my practice—tools I use every day to support and advocate for LGBTQIA2S+, immigrant, refugee, and migrant communities.

Oppression and discrimination are not theoretical concepts to me—they are part of my story. These experiences shape how I listen, teach, consult, and create space for healing and growth.

Credentials & Experience

I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University in Chicago, and a BA in Clinical Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.

Before entering the field professionally, I worked as a peer recovery coach in the family treatment court system.

Since then, my second-career journey has included:
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
  • Mental Health Associate Therapist
  • Director of Prevention & Intervention for a rural, multicultural school district
  • Private practice therapist specializing in co-occurring services
  • Current PhD student in Sociology at the University of Iowa

Leadership & Service

I am actively engaged in advancing ethics, equity, and inclusion in mental health and substance use care. I proudly serve on the following boards and committees:
  • NALGAP – Board Member
  • NBCC Foundation MFP Advisory Council – Member
  • GLSEN Educator Advisory Council – Member
  • University of Iowa Equity in Health Science and Practice – Community Advisory Board
  • NAADAC – LGBTQIA2S+ Practice Standards & JEDI Committee, Co-Chair
  • NAADAC Iowa Affiliate – President
  • ACA & SAIGE – Transgender Practice Standards Revision Committee
Past service includes leadership with One Iowa Action, Trans Lifeline, and the BV County Suicide Prevention Coalition.
